There are many types of water filters, each with its own unique filtering effect and application scenarios. When choosing a water filter, it is necessary to choose according to the requirements of use.
1. PP cotton water filter cartridge
Material: Made of polypropylene fiber.
Features: High filtration accuracy, large filtration capacity, low pressure loss, long service life, low filtration cost, strong corrosion resistance, suitable for preliminary filtration of water sources such as tap water and well water, and can effectively remove impurities such as sediment, rust, and particles in water.
Application: Primary filtration of water purification equipment commonly used by writers.
2. Activated carbon water filter cartridge
Classification: divided into granular activated carbon filter and compressed activated carbon filter.
Granular activated carbon filter: The basic composition is granular activated carbon filled in a specific bracket, which is low in cost but prone to damage and leakage, with unstable service life and effectiveness. It is commonly used as a secondary filter.
Compressed activated carbon filter cartridge: It has stronger filtration capacity and longer service life than granular activated carbon, and is commonly used as a three-stage filter.
Characteristics: Activated carbon has strong adsorption capacity for many substances, mainly used to remove color, odor, and residual chlorine from water, and can improve the taste of water.
3. Reverse osmosis water filter (RO filter)
Material: Made of cellulose acetate or aromatic polyamide.
Features: The filtration accuracy is extremely high, reaching 0.0001 microns. Except for water molecules, no impurities can pass through, so the purified water can be consumed directly.
Application: Commonly used in high-end household water purifiers and industrial pure water preparation.
4. Ultrafiltration membrane water filter (UF filter)
Material: Made of polypropylene hollow fibers, the membrane is in the shape of a hollow capillary tube.
Features: The membrane wall is densely covered with micropores with a pore size of 0.1-0.3 microns, which can filter bacteria, intercept tiny suspended solids, colloids, particles and other substances in water, and the filtered water can be consumed raw. Can be repeatedly rinsed and reused.
Application: Widely used in water purification equipment in household, industrial and other fields.
5. Ceramic water filter cartridge
Material: Made from diatomaceous earth through molding and high-temperature sintering.
Characteristics: The purification principle is similar to activated carbon, but it has relatively good filtration effect and long service life. A pore size of 0.1 microns can effectively filter out microorganisms such as sediment, rust, some bacteria, and parasites in water. The filter element is easy to regenerate and can be frequently washed with a brush or sanded with sandpaper.
Application: Suitable for water purification needs in various occasions such as homes and outdoors.
6. Ion exchange resin water filter cartridge
Classification: It is divided into two types: cationic resin and anionic resin.
Features: It can exchange ions separately with cations such as calcium and magnesium in water and anions such as sulfate ions, achieving hard water softening and deionization. But it cannot filter out impurities such as bacteria and viruses.
Application: Commonly used in situations where water quality needs to be softened, such as washing machines, water heaters, etc.
7. Other special water filter cartridges
Heavy metal filter element: such as KDF filter element, can effectively remove heavy metal ions and chemical pollutants such as chlorine and organic matter; Inhibit the growth of bacteria in water and prevent secondary pollution of the water.
Weakly alkaline filter element: such as the AK filter element of iSpring water purifier, it adjusts the acid-base balance of the human body by increasing the minerals and pH value in the water.
UV sterilization lamp: Although not a traditional filter element, as a physical disinfection method, it can quickly and thoroughly kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens in water.
